Nancy Macey was a founding director of Delta Hospice in 1991 and has been the Society’s Executive Director since 1994. She spent 4 ½ years as a government appointed public representative of the Board of Directors of the College of Registered Nurses of BC. Nancy has been sharing her leadership experience with the organization over the last 17 years. Working full-time, she is responsible for the overall management and direction of the programs and services in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors. She is currently project manager for the capital building project.

Chris Colero, Coordinator of Volunteers |

Since 2001, Chris has been instrumental in building and supporting links between volunteers, individuals and families in contact with Delta Hospice. As Coordinator of Volunteers, she works 4 days a week and is responsible for management of all volunteers working with clients and families, including recruitment, training, matching with families, support and education.

Marg joined Hospice in 1992 bringing with her extensive experience in counselling and education with those experiencing bereavement and issues associated with serious illness. As a registered clinical counsellor, she works closely with individuals, families and the Fraser Health palliative care team. She provides education and support to our visiting service volunteers, professionals and the public. Marg facilitates many of our bereavement groups.

Gilly Heaps has been a clinical counsellor at Delta Hospice since 2002. She has extensive experience working with adults, children and families, providing counselling, sand tray work and art therapy. Working 3 days a week, Gilly supports Delta Hospice volunteers and facilitates the Tuesday morning Relaxation Circle. Gilly also works in liaison with the Fraser Health Palliative Care Team.

Tama joined the Delta Hospice team in 2002. Her organizational and multi-tasking skills ensure the efficient overall operation of the Supportive Care Centre in the main areas of administration and finance. As full-time Care Centre Coordinator, she works closely with an extraordinary team of volunteers who’s hard work and dedication contribute to the overall operation of the centre. In her role as Safety Officer, Tama helps ensure safety at the Supportive Care Centre and Hospice Cottage Thrift Store.

Laurine has been with us since 1999. Her corporate background combined with her attention to detail has been instrumental in developing and maintaining the documentation required of our Society and for accreditation. In this 4 day a week position, The Associate Director works closely with the Executive Director in human resources, policy development, accreditation, sustainability and board issues.

Suzanne Sutton, Donations Coordinator |

Since 2004 Suzanne’s computer savvy and time management skills have allowed her to keep pace with our donors and members. Suzanne works two days each week processing donations, tax receipts, or memberships, and in her spare time is often volunteering with clients.

Dalyce joined the organization in 2007 and brought with her the energy and enthusiasm needed to best facilitate public and community relations. In her role as part-time Communications Coordinator, she works closely with the Executive Director to implement the society’s overall communications strategy. In her 4 day a week position, she also provides the necessary support to the Capital Campaign in implementing the Capital Campaign communications strategy.

Catherine Andrews, Care Team Leader, Hospice Residence |

Catherine brought her energy, enthusiasm and commitment to Delta Hospice in 2009 when she participated in the hiring of the new care team and start up of the Irene Thomas Hospice. In her full-time leadership position as the Care Team Leader, Catherine brings her experience as a Registered Nurse and a passion for building collaborative teams to support individuals, families and community. She is responsible for the daily operation of the Irene Thomas Residence and works closely with the Fraser Health Hospice Palliative Care, Hospital and Community Health Teams.

Sandy Schmidt, Store/Volunteer Coordinator |

Since 1998, Sandy has been the first point of contact for all new volunteers at the Hospice Cottage Thrift Store and provides support to a team of over 150 volunteers. In Sandy’s half-time position, she facilitates the internal operations of the Cottage in her role as the Store/Volunteer Coordinator. She is responsible for management of the thrift store volunteers including recruitment, orientation, scheduling and support, as well as ensuring that the volunteers have a safe and appropriate work environment, supplies and equipment necessary to operate the store.

Emma Catchpole, Inventory Coordinator |

Emma joined the Hospice Cottage as a volunteer and was soon hired in a full-time capacity as Inventory Coordinator. Her tireless dedication and commitment since 2003 to the Hospice Cottage Thrift Store is greatly appreciated and she admits to having a lot of fun doing it! She is responsible for on-going support for the evening teams, monitoring workload and providing support at times when the workload is highest.

Ginny Vetrie-Stevenson, Inventory Coordinator |

Ginny joined the Cottage team in 2007 to work with Emma on the generous volume of donations that the Cottage is fortunate to receive. As the popularity of the Hospice Cottage grew, so did the need for an energetic and efficient person to coordinate the ever increasing inventory. As the half-time Inventory Coordinator, she is responsible to ensure that the movement of inventory into the store and out of the store is working in an efficient and safe manner.
